IS A PERSONALIZED HEADWEAR CUSTOMIZATION PROJECT THAT RECONFIGURES AN EXISTING ICONIC SYMBOLIC MARKER—THE “NY” LOGO—TO INTEGRATE PERSONAL NOMENCLATURE. THROUGH STRATEGIC TYPOGRAPHIC MODIFICATION, THE DESIGN ALTERS THE ORIGINAL FORM TO READ AS “maNYeza,” EMBEDDING AN INDIVIDUAL IDENTITY INTO A PRE-ESTABLISHED BRAND SYSTEM.

THIS STUDY EXAMINES THE EFFECTS OF SYMBOLIC INTERVENTION AND CULTURAL INTERPLAY, ANALYSING HOW ADAPTING A RECOGNISABLE LOGO CAN ALTER ITS SEMANTIC INTERPRETATION AND FUNCTION. THE PROJECT SERVES AS A CASE STUDY IN THE RECLAMATION AND REDIRECTION OF VISUAL BRAND LANGUAGE, DEMONSTRATING HOW PERSONAL IDENTITY CAN BE SYNTHESISED WITH MASS-CULTURAL SYMBOLS TO GENERATE A NEW ARTEFACT WITH HYBRIDISED MEANING.
